Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques, including IV infusions, medication administration, and suturing when necessary.
- Manage complex cases involving acute pain management, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, or critical care scenarios within Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and diagnostic testing to support clinical decision-making.
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal resuscitation procedures, dementia care, memory care, hospice & palliative medicine, and behavioral health.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in procedures like cardiac catheterization, catheterization care, ostomy care, ventilator management, and tube feeding.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with NCQA standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in discharge planning, case management, health coaching, and patient education to promote long-term wellness and recovery.
Experience
- Proven experience working in hospital medicine or emergency medicine environments within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly preferred.
- Critical care experience in ICU or PICU settings demonstrating proficiency in airway management, ventilator use, telemetry monitoring, and acute care procedures.
- Skilled in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation of patient care activities including medical records management.
- Background in medical-surgical nursing with familiarity in ICD coding (ICD-9/10), laboratory procedures, specimen processing, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges across settings like assisted living facilities or long-term care environments is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to perform triage assessments in urgent care or outpatient settings while managing acute pain or complex medical conditions effectively.
