We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural Special Inspector to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects throughout New York City and the surrounding metro area while receiving strong technical support, mentorship, and advancement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural special inspections in accordance with NYC Building Code, approved construction documents, and applicable industry standards
- Conduct inspections related to structural steel, bolting, welding, and related construction activities
- Verify work conforms to project drawings, specifications, approved inspection plans, and code requirements
- Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely inspection reports and supporting documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, project managers, and clients to support successful project delivery
- Track project milestones and ensure inspections are completed within project schedules
- Maintain professionalism and strong communication on active construction sites
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety procedures and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Structural Engineering preferred)
- ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Inspector Certification required
- ICC Structural Welding Inspector Certification required
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Special Inspections, structural inspections, or related engineering/construction field work
- Strong understanding of NYC Building Code and applicable governing agencies
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and inspection plans
- Experience working directly with contractors and construction teams onsite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to work in active construction environments throughout NYC and surrounding areas
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional ICC certifications
- Experience with high-rise, commercial, healthcare, or institutional construction projects
- Knowledge of digital reporting platforms and field documentation systems
- OSHA certification preferred
