REACH Recovery is seeking a compassionate and dependable Peer Support Specialist to join our team. The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-focused support, encouragement, resource navigation, advocacy, and practical assistance to individuals engaged in substance use disorder treatment and recovery services.
This position works closely with individuals to help strengthen recovery, reduce barriers to care, build community connections, and support progress toward personally identified goals. Peer Support Specialists are an important part of the REACH Recovery team and contribute lived experience, practical knowledge, and recovery-oriented support throughout the treatment and recovery process.
Duties
- Provide individualized peer support based on each person’s goals, needs, strengths, and preferences.
- Use lived experience appropriately to encourage hope, engagement, resilience, and recovery.
- Assist individuals with identifying recovery goals and practical steps toward achieving them.
- Help connect individuals with treatment, MOUD, medical care, behavioral health services, housing, transportation, employment resources, benefits, recovery supports, and other community resources.
- Provide peer-based care coordination and resource navigation.
- Support individuals in addressing barriers that may interfere with treatment participation or recovery.
- Encourage development of healthy routines, coping skills, recovery supports, and community connections.
- Provide support during transitions in care and other significant changes in services.
- Accompany individuals to appointments, community resources, recovery activities, or other supportive services when appropriate.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate peer support and recovery-oriented groups.
- Advocate for individuals and support self-advocacy, choice, dignity, and self-determination.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation of peer-delivered services.
- Communicate and coordinate with counselors, case managers, licensed providers, supervisors, and other members of the REACH Recovery team.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training, and quality improvement activities.
- Follow REACH Recovery and Eastern Oregon Health & Wellness policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, and ethical standards.
- Maintain required peer credentials, training, and continuing education.
Qualifications
- Current Oregon Peer Support Specialist (PSS), Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM), or other applicable Oregon-recognized peer credential, or ability to obtain required credentialing.
- Lived experience relevant to recovery from substance use disorders
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build supportive and respectful relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of recovery resources, community services, and barriers that may affect access to care.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing substance use, housing instability, justice-system involvement, transportation barriers, employment challenges, and other social needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to complete clear, timely, and accurate documentation.
- Basic computer skills, including use of electronic health records, email, and Microsoft Office or similar programs.
- Reliable attendance and professional conduct.
- Oregon Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience providing peer-delivered services in substance use disorder treatment, recovery housing, behavioral health, criminal justice, or community-based recovery programs.
- Experience supporting individuals receiving MOUD
- Experience with working with individuals living in Recovery Housing
- Knowledge of local recovery, housing, transportation, healthcare, employment, and community resources.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are valued but not required.

Pay: $20.12 - $28.12 per hour
