Career Preparation Assistant
Position Title: Career Prep Assistant - PART TIME, 20 hours per week, plus extended days and hours during peak periods
(Educational Development Plan (EDP/Career Planning Initiative Grant funded and sustained only if funded on an annual basis)
Reports to: AGS Middle School Principal and Coordinator of Career & College Readiness Programs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Experience working with middle and high school students
- Ability to work flexible and extended days and hours as needed to meet job responsibilities
- Experience with projects requiring a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and organization
- Ability to utilize, maintain, reconcile and update websites and databases related to career development
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, parents, staff and the public in small or large groups
- Ability to coordinate and organize workshops, activities, presentations and other large events related to career development
- Ability to work flexible days and hours plus extended days and hours as needed
- Ability to travel to multiple work locations and meetings throughout Fenton and Genesee County
- Proficient with the use of Xello Platform, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365
Preferred Qualifications:
- Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Certification
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience assisting students in career development
- Experience planning large events
Specific Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile career planning student and staff database
- Schedule and coordinate career development activities and events including parent workshops, assemblies, classroom activities and Reality Store
- Prepare information and mailings related to career development
- Assist middle/high school teachers and students with career exploration, high school course selection and career planning software and databases
- Assist with and monitor EDP/Career Planning Initiative Grant requirements and compliance standards
- Schedule career development and course scheduling activities for classes, students, counseling departments and administrators
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the AGS Middle School Principal and Coordinator of Career & College Readiness Programs
- Maintain inventory of Career Preparation materials and equipment
Work Schedule: Teacher work year, 20 hours per week with varied hours and days, plus extended days and hours as needed during peak periods
Wages: Hourly based on experience and education
