JOB PURPOSE:
The Manufacturing Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing and configuring production/manufacturing equipment in the plant facility. The mechanic inspects and performs regular preventative maintenance per manufacturer’s as well as Buffalo Games’ specifications, diagnoses equipment malfunctions and repairs, and makes adjustments as needed with minimal downtime. Also desired is experience in programming and troubleshooting PLC’s . The position requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending and kneeling. The position may require weekend and/or holiday work. (Overtime)
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
o Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment
o Repair all production equipment as needed
o Perform breakdown analysis, diagnose problems, execute corrections.
o Perform general housekeeping
o Upgrade production lines with new equipment/technology
o Work with outside contractors working on assigned equipment or projects.
o Change line for package changeovers
o Comply with LEAN manufacturing practices, safety, and audit standards
o Must be able to work well in a team environment as well as independently as needed.
o Regular, reliable, predictable attendance
PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
o Experience with case packing / packaging machinery, gluers, assembly line, conveyors and paper converting equipment is STRONGLY PREFERRED
o Hydraulics/liquid compression (e.g., valves, cylinders)
o Pneumatics/air compression (e.g., valves, cylinders)
o Basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays)
o Mechanical systems (e.g., gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings)
o Experience with kinematics (e.g., line speed/socket size ratios)
o PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems)
o SERVO (e.g., intelligent/robotic motors, encoders, etc.)
o Troubleshooting (e.g., diagnostics, problem solving)
o Schematics (e.g., electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays, fuses)
o Product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs)
o Experience with LEAN manufacturing practices (e.g., procedures, safety, national standards such as lock-out/tag-out)
o General welding
o Experience with packaging/ high speed production
o Hands on knowledge of and experience with tool design and fabrication, tool repair, and troubleshooting.
