Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Manage complex medical procedures such as IV infusions, catheterizations, suturing, and ventilator management.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic and Cerner to document patient information meticulously and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
- Coordinate discharge planning, case management, and collaborate with physicians on diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies using critical care procedures such as airway management and acute pain control within Level I or Level II trauma center environments.
- Support infection control practices and adhere to NCQA standards while maintaining high standards of medical documentation and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Registered Nurse in hospital settings such as ICU, emergency room, trauma centers, or surgical units.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic and Cerner for accurate documentation and patient tracking.
- Hands-on experience with advanced nursing procedures like dialysis support, PICU care, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and telemetry monitoring.
- Critical care experience in acute environments requiring rapid response to trauma or emergency situations.
- Background in specialized fields such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, laboratory testing procedures, specimen collection/processing, and DME (durable medical equipment).
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including those in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home & community care settings or long-term care environments.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards for sterile processing and aseptic techniques to ensure safe clinical practices.
