About the Job
We are seeking a detail-oriented paralegal to join our litigation and guardianship team, supporting one of our attorneys who carries a busy caseload of client meetings, mediations, and court appearances. You'll be trusted to run point independently on day-to-day matters when the attorney is out of the office, using good judgment to keep things moving. The role also includes some executive assistant–style support to help keep our busy attorneys prepared and successful.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage caseload status, deadlines, and client communication independently, including while the attorney is in court or mediation and unreachable.
- Prepare case materials and summaries ahead of client meetings, mediations, and court dates.
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and the court on scheduling and case logistics.
- Flag and triage what needs the attorney's attention versus what can be handled directly, proactively and without waiting to be asked.
- Draft first drafts of legal documents, including motions, petitions, answers, and trial documentation.
- Prepare for and occasionally attend substantive hearings and final trials.
- Provide occasional executive assistant support, including calendar management, meeting preparation, correspondence, and special projects as needed.
- Coordinate with internal teams to keep communication and workflow moving across matters.
- You will bill your time with a lower-than-industry-standard billable hour goal.
