Position Summary
USA Coil & Air is a custom commercial HVAC coil manufacturer. Every coil is engineered to order, and our engineering is performed in Glen Mills, Delaware County.
We are seeking an entry-level Sales Engineer Assistant to support our Sales Engineers with the technical work behind customer projects. This is an engineering position, not a sales position. It is well suited to a recent or upcoming graduate in mechanical engineering or engineering technology looking to build a technical foundation in HVAC coil design.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist an assigned Sales Engineer with the engineering work supporting their projects
- Select and size coils in our engineering software, either to meet a specified performance requirement within fixed dimensional constraints or to match existing equipment dimensions
- Prepare first-draft drawings and performance data for review
- Research project background prior to quoting, including the requested model, the project site, and applicable records in our job and OEM library
- Verify selections, drawings, and calculations for accuracy before they are released to a customer
- Maintain accurate and current project records as jobs progress
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, or an associate's degree in engineering technology, CAD, or a related field. Completed, or to be completed within the next year.
- Coursework in thermodynamics, heat transfer, or fluid mechanics, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to ask questions and to accept feedback
- Prior HVAC experience is not required; product training is provided
Training and Development
New hires begin with an internal training program covering coil fundamentals, our product line, and the systems used day-to-day, before moving to live projects. All work is reviewed by a Sales Engineer prior to release, and responsibilities increase over the first year as experience develops. This position is intended as a career path toward a Sales Engineer role.
Schedule and Location
Full-time, on-site, five days per week in Glen Mills, PA 19342. This is not a remote or hybrid position; the training model requires working directly alongside experienced engineers. Candidates should be able to commute reliably to Delaware County.
Compensation and Benefits
$50,000 – $75,000 per year, depending on degree and experience. The range reflects our openness to both four-year engineering graduates and engineering technology graduates; all hires complete the same training program.
