Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile PRN Pharmacist to join our healthcare team on an as-needed basis. We have four locations that may be possible for hours. In this role, you will provide expert pharmaceutical care, ensuring safe medication management, patient education, and clinical support across various healthcare settings. Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately while adhering to all pharmacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans, including pain management, immunizations, and medication adjustments.
- Prepare and compound medications using aseptic techniques, ensuring sterile procedures for IV infusions and other compounded drugs.
- Manage inventory levels efficiently, including stock replenishment, medication storage, and proper documentation within pharmacy software systems.
- Provide patient education on medication administration, potential side effects, and proper usage to promote adherence and safety.
- Support hospital or long-term care (LTC) facilities by participating in patient care activities such as IV insertion, patient assessments, and medication reconciliation.
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license in good standing with current state licensing requirements.
- Prior experience in LTC pharmacy or hospital settings is highly preferred.
- Critical care experience or residency training in pharmacy is advantageous.
- Demonstrated clinical pharmacy experience with a focus on patient service and medical management.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pediatric pharmacology is essential.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Skills in compounding medications, aseptic technique, IV infusion preparation, and inventory management.
- Experience with immunizations administration and IV insertion procedures.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with healthcare teams in acute care environments.
