Construction Installer – Insulated Metal Panels / Cold StorageCompensation, Travel & Company Culture
We are based out of Florida, but have a project in Houston Texas from 9/25 to 10/23. We will be working in an active freezer but will provide necessary freezer jackets and accessories.
When we are working out of town, we typically aim to work six 10-hour days, giving our employees the opportunity to earn plenty of overtime while getting the project completed efficiently.
We do our best to provide comfortable accommodations for our crews. Rather than putting employees in basic hotel rooms whenever possible, our teams typically stay in houses, apartments, or similar accommodations that include amenities such as kitchens, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and sometimes pools.

Job Summary
Griffin Insulation is seeking dependable, hardworking Construction Installers to join our field team. We specialize in commercial and industrial cold-storage construction and have been serving the industry since 1986.
Our work is extremely diverse. We install:
- Insulated metal wall and ceiling panels
- Cooler and freezer doors
- Personnel doors
- Single-slide and sliding freezer/cooler doors
- Windows
- Floor insulation
- Pipe insulation
- Trims, flashings, vapor barriers, foam, and sealants
- Specialty cold-storage components and repairs
One week you could be part of a crew installing a 100,000-square-foot freezer, and the next you could be on a service call replacing or repairing a door gasket.
No job is too big or too small.
That variety is a major part of working at Griffin Insulation. We are looking for people who are willing to learn different aspects of the cold-storage industry rather than perform the exact same task every day.
This is a hands-on construction position for someone who is comfortable working hard, using tools, working at heights, and traveling to job sites throughout Florida and occasionally out of state.
You must be comfortable being out of town for work. Some projects require our crews to stay near the job site for several days, to 2-3 months. Can go home every few weeks if necessary, we can discuss.
Previous insulated metal panel experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person who has construction experience, is mechanically inclined, shows up consistently, and wants to learn a specialized trade.
Responsibilities
- Install insulated metal wall and ceiling panels for commercial coolers, freezers, refrigerated warehouses, and temperature-controlled facilities
- Install cooler and freezer doors, including personnel doors and sliding doors
- Install windows and related cold-storage components
- Install rigid floor insulation systems
- Assist with pipe insulation installation
- Perform repairs and service work on existing coolers, freezers, doors, panels, insulation systems, and related components
- Replace and repair door gaskets, hardware, trims, sealants, and other components
- Measure, cut, fit, and fasten insulated metal panels, trims, flashings, and accessories
- Apply foam, caulking, sealants, and vapor barriers as required
- Read tape measures accurately and perform layouts from field dimensions
- Use hand tools, drills, saws, impact drivers, grinders, lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and other construction equipment
- Assist with unloading, staging, moving, and organizing construction materials
- Work from construction drawings, details, and instructions provided by project managers and field supervisors
- Work safely from ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, and boom lifts
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Perform demolition and repair work related to existing cooler and freezer systems when required
- Coordinate and work closely with foremen, superintendents, project managers, general contractors, customers, and other trades
- Follow company safety procedures and job-site requirements at all times
- Travel to project locations and stay overnight when required
- Work overtime, early mornings, weekends, or extended shifts when project schedules require it
Qualifications
- Construction experience preferred
- Experience with insulated metal panels, metal buildings, commercial roofing, sheet metal, carpentry, drywall/framing, refrigeration construction, insulation, or similar trades is a plus
- Having your own truck and construction tools is a major plus
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Mechanically inclined and able to learn new installation methods
- Willingness to perform both large construction projects and smaller repair/service work
- Ability to perform physically demanding construction work throughout the day
- Comfortable working at heights and operating from aerial lifts
- Ability to lift and carry construction materials
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a crew
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Must be dependable and able to report to work on time
- Must be willing and able to travel and stay out of town
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain a professional attitude on customer job sites
Travel & Overtime
Travel is a major part of this position.
Griffin Insulation performs projects throughout Florida and occasionally outside of Florida. Employees may be required to stay overnight near project locations for multiple days depending on the project.
When traveling, Griffin Insulation provides:
- Travel pay to the destination
- $35 per day per diem
- Company-paid accommodations
For out-of-town projects, our goal is typically to work six 10-hour days per week. This creates an opportunity for employees who want to work to earn substantial overtime.

You do not need to know everything about insulated metal panels or cold-storage construction when you start. If you have construction experience, know how to use tools, can read a tape measure, and are willing to work, travel, and learn, we can teach you the cold-storage side of the business.
