- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with payer requirements.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with coding standards and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures when necessary for precise coding.
- Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines, including changes in ICD coding versions and CPT coding procedures.
- Assist in auditing billing processes to identify errors or inconsistencies, implementing corrective actions to optimize revenue cycle performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, with familiarity using EMR/EHR systems.
