Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Welder/Fabricator to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, assembling, and repairing metal structures and components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise in welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and mechanical fabrication will ensure that projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication shop drawings to determine project specifications.
- Perform welding operations using various techniques such as FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Fabricate metal components by cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal and other metal materials using plasma cutters, power tools, and hand tools.
- Measure materials accurately with calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication.
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues during fabrication or welding processes, maintaining safety protocols at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the fabrication shop while adhering to safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks involving metal materials, ensuring quality control throughout the process.
Requirements
- Proven experience working on construction sites or in a fabrication shop environment with a focus on metal fabrication.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with experience using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, soldering equipment, and machining tools.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction site activities.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations necessary for fabrication tasks.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication and understanding of AWS standards is highly desirable.
- Construction site experience is preferred but not mandatory; a strong commitment to safety is essential.
