Mobile Fleet Technician – Multiple Experience Levels
Delta Fleet Services | Sacramento–Stockton Region
Base pay: $26–$36 per hour, depending on experience
Estimated total compensation: $30–$45 per hour, including production and workmanship incentives
Delta Fleet Services is looking for dependable, experienced technicians who want something different from a traditional shop environment. This is a mobile position servicing and repairing commercial vehicles and equipment at customer locations.
Mobile fleet repair is challenging and is not the right fit for everyone. Technicians must be adaptable, resourceful, and capable of solving problems without always having the equipment and resources of a traditional shop readily available.
For the right technician, however, this position offers something many traditional shops cannot: variety, flexibility, independence, and autonomy. You will not have someone looking over your shoulder all day, but you will be expected to manage your responsibilities, communicate effectively, and deliver quality work.
We are considering technicians at different skill levels, but all applicants must have at least two years of professional repair experience.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate:
- Has at least two years of professional automotive, diesel, commercial truck, or equipment repair experience
- Is organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Can work independently and manage time effectively
- Has strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Can think creatively and make sound decisions in the field
- Takes pride in completing repairs correctly the first time
- Accurately documents labor, parts, diagnostic findings, and completed repairs
- Communicates professionally with customers and the Delta Fleet team
- Is comfortable working outdoors and in changing field conditions
- Understands that schedules and hours may vary depending on customer needs
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and fleet equipment at customer locations
- Perform preventive maintenance and mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic repairs
- Respond to scheduled service calls and occasional urgent repair needs
- Identify additional repair needs and communicate recommendations for approval
- Locate and source parts when necessary
- Maintain an organized service vehicle, tools, and inventory
- Document labor, repairs, parts, mileage, and diagnostic findings accurately
- Communicate repair status and recommendations clearly
- Follow Delta Fleet Services’ quality and safety standards
Compensation and Incentives
Delta Fleet Services offers a guaranteed hourly base rate of $26–$36 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
In addition to base pay, technicians may earn:
- A monthly production incentive equal to 10% of eligible billed labor
- An additional monthly workmanship bonus based on repair quality and preventable comeback performance
Eligible billed labor includes authorized, properly documented labor personally performed by the technician and invoiced by Delta Fleet Services. Parts, taxes, fees, subcontractor charges, and work correcting a preventable workmanship error are not included.
The workmanship bonus rewards technicians who complete repairs correctly and consistently. A technician may qualify for the full bonus when there are no preventable comebacks attributable to their workmanship during the incentive period. Defective parts, unrelated failures, customer-declined repairs, and circumstances outside the technician’s reasonable control will not automatically be considered comebacks.
Productive technicians who consistently perform quality work may earn estimated total compensation equivalent to approximately $30–$45 per hour. Actual earnings will vary based on experience, hours worked, billed labor, repair quality, documentation, and incentive eligibility.
What Delta Fleet Services Offers

- Independence and autonomy in the field
- Flexible and varying schedules
- Performance-based earning potential
- Opportunities for technicians at different experience levels
- The ability to grow with a small, expanding company
- A work environment that values initiative, resourcefulness, accountability, and results
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of professional repair experience

- Reliable attendance and professional communication
- Appropriate technician tools
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of mobile repair work
- Ability to work independently without direct, continuous supervision
- Diesel, medium-duty, heavy-duty, fleet, electrical, or diagnostic experience is strongly preferred
