JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Registered Youth Apprentice � Agriculture / Farm Apprentice
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Demonstrated interest in agriculture, farming, and livestock.
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to complete assigned tasks independently.

Responsible, dependable, and trustworthy.

Basic knowledge of livestock handling and farm equipment, with the ability to safely perform assigned tasks.

Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

Willingness to work outside the regular school day, including after school, weekends, and, when necessary, school breaks.

Willingness to communicate regularly with Agriculture Instructors, workplace supervisors, and apprenticeship coordinators.

Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.

Must have completed or be concurrently enrolled in one of the following Agriculture classes at Ozark High School: Ag Science I, Animal Science, Intro to Horses, Landscaping, Greenhouse Management, Ag Construction I or II, or FFA Leadership
REPORTS TO: High School Principal or Designee
JOB GOAL: To gain hands-on experience while developing the technical skills, work habits, and knowledge necessary for a career in agriculture and farming under the supervision of agriculture professionals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Learn and develop agriculture and farming skills through hands-on training.

Demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, and a willingness to learn.

Perform assigned tasks accurately, safely, and in a timely manner.
-
Assist with routine farm operations, including livestock care, feeding, herding, facility maintenance, and other assigned agricultural activities.

Operate and control farm equipment and machinery as appropriate for the student's training and experience, following all safety procedures.

Assist with pasture management activities, including herbicide spraying and vegetation control, following all safety procedures and label requirements. .

Participate in regular progress reviews with school staff and workplace supervisors.

Maintain regular communication with Agriculture Instructors regarding apprenticeship progress.

Follow all district, workplace, and safety policies and procedures.
-
Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to move throughout the workplace, work in indoor and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions which could be extreme, lift up to 50 pounds, and safely perform the physical duties associated with agricultural work.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: At-will employment; compensation at an
COMPENSATION: Hourly rate paid monthly based on submitted time sheets.
TYPE OF POSITION: Nonexempt
EVALUATION: Ongoing evaluation by the assigned Agriculture Instructor and annual evaluation by the High School Principal or Designee.
