American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Acute Telemetry night shift position in Alexandria, LA, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry or related nursing experience and current AHA certifications.

Acute Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
-
Patient population includes MI, CHF, arrhythmias, PVD, and med/surg overflow
-
Cardiac drip management is performed on the unit (nitrates are not initiated but drips are managed)
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 5:1, occasionally 6:1
-
Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
-
Every other weekend required
-
No on-call requirements
-
Floating to other units required when needed
-
13-week contract with potential for temp-to-perm conversion

Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand

Current BLS certification from AHA required
-
Current ACLS certification from AHA required
-
Minimum 1 year of experience in telemetry or a related nursing specialty

SSN required for consideration
-
2 professional references required for consideration

Copies of all active certifications required for consideration

Primary source license verification (Nursys) required for consideration

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates

Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation

Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
-
Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
-
Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
-
Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers
-
All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
-
New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed at the bedside

BSN preferred but not required
