MISSION/VISION
Healthcare Alternative Systems (HAS) provides a continuum of multicultural and bilingual (English/Spanish) behavioral care and social services that empower individuals, families, and communities. HAS seeks to implement sustainable programs that benefit society by improving the well-being and recovery efforts of those individuals, families, and communities impacted by behavioral health problems. With eleven locations across the Chicagoland area, HAS provides services and resources to individuals at every stage in their behavioral/recovery journey so that they can be successful and become contributing members of their communities.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Residential Aide works with other team members to provide assistance with clinical and crisis intervention activities. The incumbent also provides case management services and referrals to clients during treatment and post discharge.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assures participants are resting well, 3 rounds a night.
Provides crisis intervention and makes appropriate referrals; based on individual participants’ needs.
Makes consultations over the phone with immediate supervisor as needed in order to maintain safety of the Residents.
Supervises participants’ morning activities and serves as a positive role model for participants.
Dispenses of morning medications and cigarettes, strictly adhering to program protocols regarding documenting medication entries in the logs.
Documents all shift activities on a daily basis.
Complies with agency policies and procedures.
Participates in agency and regular staff team meetings.
Participates in agency fund-raising efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, or program administrator.
Performs Toxicology urinalysis samples.
Drives participants to all their case management appointments in the community.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Possession of a valid State Driver’s License and willingness to use personal vehicle in course of employment.
Have basic knowledge of the disease concept of alcoholism and substance abuse.
Basic knowledge of computer keyboard preferred.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
Bicultural preferred.
Ability to work flexible shifts as needed – due to Residence operating 24 hours a day, year-round.
H.A.S. requires all staff to work onsite.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
