Kindergarten Assistant Teacher

This position is an excellent opportunity for someone beginning a career in education who wants meaningful classroom experience alongside an experienced Montessori teacher. It is equally well suited for a veteran educator seeking a position with fewer planning and administrative responsibilities while continuing to make a significant impact in the lives of children every day. This job is 4-5 days/week during the school year.
KINDERGARTEN ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build positive, caring relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Support the Lead Teacher in implementing engaging Montessori lessons and daily classroom routines.
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce literacy, mathematics, and Montessori lessons.
- Encourage student independence by providing guidance while allowing children to problem-solve and develop confidence.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining a beautiful, orderly, and inviting Montessori environment where materials are complete, organized, and accessible.
- Observe student engagement and progress and communicate observations to the Lead Teacher.
- Model kindness, respect, peaceful conflict resolution, and Positive Discipline practices throughout the school day.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and field trips to ensure student safety.
- Assist with classroom preparation, organization, material creation, and daily operations.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, specialists, and administrators to support the success of every child.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and collaborative team planning.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students and families.
- Participate in the school's evaluation and goal-setting process.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of students and the school community.

- Experience working with elementary-aged children or a strong interest in education.

We'd Prefer You Over Other Candidates If
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Experience working in a Montessori classroom.
- Montessori training or interest in pursuing Montessori professional development.
- Previous classroom or instructional support experience.
