Job Summary
The Senior Director, Intermodal Equipment, Capacity & Infrastructure leads CSX’s intermodal equipment fleet, terminal capacity strategy, infrastructure planning, electrical capital strategy, and related technology systems. This role develops and executes multi-year capital and operating plans that improve safety, reliability, service, productivity, asset performance, and network scalability.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Lead long-term strategy, lifecycle management, modernization, maintenance, and replacement planning for intermodal mobile and lift equipment, terminal infrastructure, and related assets.
- Develop asset, infrastructure, terminal capacity, and electrical capital plans that support safety, reliability, productivity, service, growth, capital efficiency, and long-term network resilience.
- Evaluate utilization, reliability, lifecycle cost, capacity constraints, operational needs, regulatory requirements, sustainability goals, and investment timing to optimize asset performance and infrastructure decisions.
- Lead technology platforms that support equipment management, maintenance planning, asset utilization, analytics, reporting, and capacity planning.
- Develop business cases, financial analyses, investment recommendations, and multi-year capital and operating plans.
- Oversee complex projects from concept through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, implementation, and operational integration.
- Manage budgets, vendors, contractors, utilities, engineering firms, and equipment manufacturers to deliver projects safely, on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Lead and develop employees, managers, project leaders, contractors, and cross-functional partners while reinforcing accountability, collaboration, innovation, and execution discipline.
- Ensure equipment, infrastructure, electrical, technology, construction, and contractor activities comply with safety, regulatory, environmental, engineering, and company standards.
- Support executive leadership with recommendations, presentations, financial analyses, project updates, and subject matter expertise.
Perform miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or related field.
- 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, engineering, infrastructure, asset management, terminal operations, maintenance, technology systems, or capital project management.
- 7 or more years leading employees, managers, professional staff, contractors, or cross-functional teams.
Experience managing large capital and operating budgets, complex projects, long-term strategies, business cases, and financial analyses.

Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer, PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, asset management, or related certification.
- Experience in rail, intermodal, port, terminal, distribution, industrial, transportation, or large-scale logistics operations.
Experience with lift equipment, mobile fleet management, terminal design, electrical infrastructure, utility coordination, operational systems, or digital transformation.

- Understanding of IT and operational technology systems supporting equipment, maintenance, analytics, reporting, and terminal operations.
- Strong financial analysis, project management, vendor management, contractor management, procurement support, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, project schedules, contracts, and technical documentation.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, communicate complex information to senior leadership, and drive results through change.
