A well-established mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee commercial HVAC and plumbing projects across Northern California. The company specializes in design-build mechanical construction, fabrication, service, and special projects for complex commercial environments including life science, advanced technology, healthcare, and institutional facilities.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background who can manage projects from preconstruction through closeout while coordinating closely with field operations, engineering, and clients. A Mechanical Engineering degree is required for this position.
- Manage commercial HVAC and plumbing projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Coordinate schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and field operations
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, and design-build scopes
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Work closely with engineering, fabrication, and field teams throughout project execution
- Support budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and cost tracking
- Coordinate with owners, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain project schedules and quality
- Participate in design-build coordination and preconstruction planning
- Track project financials and maintain overall project profitability
- Support project closeout including punch lists, as-builts, O&Ms, and turnover documentation

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management
- Strong experience with commercial HVAC systems required
- Plumbing and piping experience preferred
- Design-build project experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, and construction management software
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, scheduling, and project financials
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
