Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Apprentice Technician to assist with the repair, maintenance, and installation of commercial waste compactors and recycling equipment. This is a hands-on position where you’ll work alongside experienced technicians servicing equipment at commercial and industrial sites. No prior compactor experience required—training provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist with diagnosing and repairing commercial waste compactors
- Learn hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Help with equipment installations and removals
- Interact professionally with customers on job sites
- Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout
Requirements
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts; familiarity with using an ohmmeter is preferred but not required—training will be provided
- Strong interest in mechanical systems and maintenance work
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols diligently
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude toward learning
- Physically capable of performing manual tasks such as lifting parts and standing for extended periods
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework or prior experience in maintenance is a plus

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
