About Olive My Pickle
Olive My Pickle started in 2010 at the local farmers markets. Over the next 16 years, we grew from a local staple into the leading e-commerce seller of lacto-fermented foods in the country, shipping 35+ products nationwide to tens of thousands of households a month. In 2024 we opened The Pickle Factory, our first brick-and-mortar retail location in Jacksonville — and earlier this year, we opened a second location in St. Augustine.
We’re family-owned and operated, with a small but sharp, engaged team that genuinely cares about what we make and where we’re going. If you’ve built real skills inside a corporate structure and you’re ready for a place where your fingerprints are actually on the work — this is it. Or if you’ve spent your career inside an agency watching brands come and go, never quite getting to go deep on any of them — this is the chance to finally make one yours.
The Role
You will govern brand messaging and voice across every marketing touchpoint — email, social, ads, web, SEO content, in-store merchandising — for both Olive My Pickle and The Pickle Factory. You will build the reporting infrastructure that tells us what’s working so we can do more of it. And you will use that data to drive the content calendar, audience segmentation, and channel strategy going forward. The brand voice is established. The content strategy is established. The agency relationships are in place. You’re not building from scratch — you’re taking ownership of a foundation and making it measurably better. Because the team is small and growing, you’ll roll up your sleeves at the start. Over time, you’ll identify where the team needs to grow and make those recommendations. This is a role that scales with the business.
What You’ll Own:
Brand Voice & Messaging Governance
- Ensure brand voice and messaging are consistent and on-standard across all touchpoints: email, social, ads, web, SEO content, and in-store
- Review and approve written content produced by internal team members and external agencies before it goes out
- Serve as the brand voice authority for both Olive My Pickle and The Pickle Factory — OMP is the primary standard; TPF follows from it
- Partner with the SEO agency as the brand-side point of contact — reviewing blog output for voice accuracy and alignment, not leading SEO strategy
Content Strategy & Calendar
- Own the monthly content calendar across email, social, and ads — built from a retroactive look at what is performing
- Collaborate with creative team monthly to align content direction before execution begins
- Assign content pillars, depth levels, and content forms to ensure the strategy is being executed consistently across channels
- Evolve the content strategy over time as audience data, market trends, and brand direction shift
Analytics, Reporting & Audience Intelligence
- Build the reporting infrastructure that currently doesn’t exist — dashboards and reporting cadences that tell us which content pillars, formats, and messages are driving results
- Architect AI-driven analytics tools within Claude or in partnership with our in-house AI Architect to surface the insights we need
- Leverage customer enrichment and personalization data to inform segmentation strategy
- Own Klaviyo audience segmentation — ensuring the right messages reach the right people
- Run A/B tests across email, social, and ads — subject lines, content angles, CTAs, send times — and document learnings systematically
- Deliver regular performance reporting to the CMO: what’s working, what isn’t, and what we do next
Team & Agency Leadership
- Co-lead the marketing department with Creative Director under a project-based reporting model — content and copy routes through you, creative and design routes through Creative Director
- Help develop the team’s organizational structure over time and make staffing recommendations as the business grows
- Manage day-to-day relationships with content-side agency partners
What We’re Looking For:
Hard Skills
- 5+ years of content marketing or brand marketing experience, with at least 2 in a senior or director-level role
- Klaviyo emails & SMS proficiency — segmentation, flows, A/B testing, list health, and deliverability
- Google Analytics fluency — you know what to look at and what it means
- E-commerce marketing background — you understand DTC consumer behavior, acquisition, retention, and LTV
- Experience with customer data and personalization — data enrichment tools, audience segmentation, and using behavioral data to inform content decisions
- Demonstrated ability to build reporting structures — dashboards, performance cadences, and the discipline to document what you learn
- AI orientation, specifically Claude — we have built content systems inside this platform and you will operate inside them, improve them, and help architect new analytical tools within them.
Editorial & Brand Skills
- Strong copywriting instincts and genuine editorial judgment — you can identify what’s wrong with a piece of copy before being told, and you can articulate why
- Curiosity, familiarity or appreciation for fermented foods, gut health, or ancestral nutrition. Openness to learn. This audience is educated and they notice when content misses the mark.
- Experience governing brand voice across multiple channels and multiple content producers — holding a standard, not just setting one
Leadership & Culture
- Collaborative by default — strong relationships on a small team are not optional.
- Self-directed — you identify what needs to happen and make it happen. You don’t wait to be told.
- Dynamic personality — these are colorful, fun brands on a close-knit team. Culture fit matters as much as the resume.
How We Work:
Our office is on Phillips Highway, just south of JTB. It’s on-site and full-time. We work out of a real production facility, which means the pickles are literally down the hall. We’re in a growth stage, which means the environment is flexible and collaborative but can feel a little chaotic at times.
The Creative Director’s team originates creative and design. You extract what’s resonating, determine what deserves to go deeper, and make sure every word that goes out sounds like us and can be measured. The two directors set the direction together; the CMO holds the vision.
In six months, we want to sit down to plan the next quarter’s content and have data telling us where to go. That reporting infrastructure doesn’t fully exist yet. Building it — and using it — is one of the most important things this role will do.
To Apply:
Send your resume and a brief description of a reporting structure or analytics framework you built — what it measured, what you learned, and what changed because of it.
