Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Electric Estimator & Take Off Specialist to join our team in Erie, Pa. This vital role involves accurately assessing electrical project requirements, preparing comprehensive estimates, and performing precise take-offs to support successful project bids. Duties
- Review construction plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop detailed electrical estimates.
- Perform quantity take-offs to accurately measure materials and labor needs.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, panels, and related components.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to negotiate pricing and scope adjustments.
- Utilize estimating software to compile comprehensive bids that reflect current market rates.
- Assist in bid preparation by analyzing subcontractor quotes and supplier pricing to optimize cost efficiency.
- Support project management teams by providing cost control insights throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and other relevant regulations during estimation processes.
- Contribute to contract review and development, ensuring scope clarity and risk mitigation strategies are incorporated.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, contracts, and project documentation for future reference.
Skills
- Proficiency in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or similar is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems design, installation practices, and NEC standards.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Construction site experience to better understand field conditions impacting estimates.
- Knowledge of construction management principles and project management methodologies.
- Ability to perform accurate quantity take-offs quickly and efficiently using digital tools.
- Familiarity with contract types, scope development, and cost control techniques within the construction industry.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
- Attention to detail combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments. Compensation
- Yearly salary plus benefits + Profit Sharing on all completed and successfully bid commercial work.
