Overview
The Restaurant Greeter is the first point of contact for guests and plays an important role in creating a warm and welcoming dining experience. This position greets guests, manages the entrance and seating process, assists with reservations, and helps ensure the restaurant operates smoothly. The Greeter should provide friendly, professional, and attentive service while maintaining a positive image of the restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests promptly with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Manage the restaurant entrance and maintain an organized waiting area.
- Confirm reservations and assist guests with seating arrangements.
- Provide accurate wait-time estimates and communicate updates to waiting guests.
- Escort guests to their tables and provide menus when appropriate.
- Answer basic questions about the restaurant, menu, hours, and available services.
- Coordinate with servers, hosts, and management to manage table availability and guest flow.
- Assist with special requests, celebrations, and guest needs whenever possible.
- Monitor the dining room and notify the appropriate team member when tables need attention.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming host/greeter area.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and involve a manager when necessary.
- Follow all hotel/restaurant service, safety, and guest privacy standards.
- Support the restaurant team with additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, hotel, hospitality, or customer-service experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, professional, and welcoming personality.
- Ability to remain calm and courteous in a busy environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and other shifts as required.
- Basic computer and reservation-system skills preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and coworkers.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to providing excellent guest service.
