MUST BE ABLE TO CLEAN SO BARGES CAN PASS WHITE GLOVE TEST BY THE GOVERNMENT
Responsible for performing comprehensive deep cleaning, sanitization, and minor refurbishment of all designated barge spaces in compliance with OSHA-approved standards and safety regulations. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces (horizontal, vertical, and hard-to-reach areas) to remove grease, grime, scale, and debris across berthing, office, galley, sanitary, and common areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deep cleaning and sanitizing ship heads, galleys, sculleries, and equipment, including defrosting and cleaning refrigeration units and detailed cleaning of griddles and hood systems
- Vacuuming, mopping, waxing deck surfaces, and cleaning ladders, windows, mirrors, fixtures, furniture, and ventilation components
- Shampooing upholstery and ensuring all air diffusers are free of dust and debris
- Testing, unclogging, and verifying proper function of deck drains
- Safely working around electrical systems to prevent damage or injury
- Removing and disposing of waste in accordance with all regulatory requirements
- Replacing curtains, blinds, awnings, shower curtains, AHU filters, ceiling panels, deck tiles, and damaged hardware as directed
- Installing and configuring security locks and other specified components
- Conducting final cleanliness inspections with supervisors, ensuring all spaces meet strict “white glove” standards
- Maintaining tracking documentation and clearly marking completed areas to prevent re-entry
- Ensures all work is completed to high-quality standards, leaving spaces clean, sanitized, dry, and inspection-ready.
