Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog Daycare Attendant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a safe, fun, and engaging environment for dogs while their owners are away. You will interact with dogs of various breeds and sizes, ensuring their well-being and happiness throughout the day. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and a STRONG understanding of dog behavior (we will train you to read dog behavior, so be a good learner). The ideal candidate MUST have experience working with dogs in a daycare, kennel, shelter, rescue or grooming setting.
NOTE: This is a position that requires you to work without access to your cell phone.
STUDENTS: You MUST be able to work holidays - we cannot hire students who leave Gainesville when classes break for Thanksgiving, Christmas or Spring Break.
Duties
- Supervise and engage with dogs in playgroups to ensure safe interactions.
- Monitor the health and behavior of each dog, reporting any concerns to management.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas that dogs are in, including cleaning up after dogs and sanitizing play spaces.
- Assist with feeding schedules and provide fresh water to all dogs.
- Implement basic training commands during playtime to reinforce good behavior.
- Provide individual attention to dogs as needed, including grooming and comfort.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed to protect both the dogs and staff.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their dog's day at daycare.
Qualifications
- Experience in animal handling or care; previous roles in pet sitting, dog training, or veterinary assistance are advantageous.
- Knowledge of dog behavior is essential.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm demeanor with animals.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with both dogs and their owners.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is a must.
- You MUST be a team player - we excel in offering pack boarding and daycare and expect that you are willing to work well with teammates and our yard leads.
- Certification in pet first aid or CPR is a plus but not required.
