Pay: $50/hour or $100 per 2-hour class session
eSTEAMED Academy & Maker Space is seeking an energetic and dependable STEM Enrichment Teacher to lead hands-on afterschool programs in game development, coding, robotics, and technology for elementary and middle school students.
This is a great opportunity for educators, STEM professionals, college graduates, programmers, gamers, robotics enthusiasts, and youth development professionals who enjoy helping young people learn through building, creating, experimenting, and problem-solving.
You do not need to be an expert in every platform we use. We are looking for someone who has a strong STEM foundation, enjoys working with youth, is comfortable learning new technology, and can confidently lead a structured classroom.
What You’ll Do
As a STEM Enrichment Teacher, you will:
- Lead engaging, hands-on afterschool STEM classes for elementary and middle school students
- Teach introductory and intermediate concepts in coding, game development, robotics, engineering, and technology
- Guide students through projects where they design, build, code, test, troubleshoot, and improve their creations
- Help students develop problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Follow eSTEAMED Academy curriculum, lesson plans, and project guides
- Prepare equipment and materials before each class and ensure materials are properly stored after class
- Manage a classroom of up to 20 students
- Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Encourage students with different skill levels and learning styles
- Track attendance and submit brief session notes or program updates
- Communicate professionally with eSTEAMED Academy staff and school/site coordinators
- Participate in required instructor training and program meetings
Technology & Platforms
Depending on the class assignment, instructors may work with platforms and tools such as:
- Scratch
- Microsoft MakeCode Arcade
- Minecraft Education / MakeCode
- Roblox Studio
- Godot
- GameMaker
- Unreal Engine – introductory level
- VEX IQ Robotics
- VEX V5 Robotics
- LEGO robotics and engineering platforms
- Block-based coding and introductory Python/C++ concepts
- Additional STEM and maker technologies introduced through our programs
You are not required to have experience with every platform listed. Training and curriculum support are provided.
Schedule
- Part-time, in-person position
- Afterschool hours, generally between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM
- Approximately 2–3 days per week
- Approximately 4–6 instructional hours per week
- Schedule may vary based on school-site assignments
- Additional teaching hours may become available as programs expand
Candidates should have reliable availability during scheduled program hours for the duration of their assigned session.
Compensation
- $50 per instructional hour OR $100 per 2-hour class session
- $25 monthly cell phone stipend
- Paid training
- Curriculum and lesson plans provided

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Experience working with children or youth in a school, camp, tutoring, recreation, mentoring, afterschool, or similar setting
- General knowledge or experience in at least one area of STEM, such as coding, robotics, engineering, game development, computer science, or technology
- Comfortable using computers, web-based applications, and educational technology
- Ability and willingness to learn new STEM platforms and curriculum
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage and engage a group of students
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and professional
- Ability to work independently at assigned school or community sites
- Reliable transportation to assigned program locations
Preferred Qualifications
We especially encourage candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Teaching coding, robotics, engineering, or game development
- VEX IQ or VEX V5 Robotics
- Scratch or Microsoft MakeCode
- Roblox Studio
- Godot or GameMaker
- Unreal Engine
- Python or C++
- Computer science or software development
- Engineering or technology
- K–12 education
- Afterschool or expanded-learning programs
- Youth development or recreation programs
- Classroom or behavior management
A degree in education, computer science, engineering, technology, or a related field is welcomed but not required if the candidate has relevant experience.
Required Training & Clearances
Selected candidates must complete or provide required program clearances before beginning independent instruction, including:
- DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background Check
- Current TB clearance
- Mandated Reporter Training
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Code of Conduct and youth safety training
- eSTEAMED Academy Instructor Boot Camp and program orientation
