Assistant Manager – Maru Sushi + Bar | East Lansing

We are seeking an Assistant Manager for our East Lansing location who is passionate about both hospitality and culinary excellence and is ready to help lead a high-performing team.

- Upholds and enhances the Maru culture through positive leadership and accountability
- Builds strong relationships with team members through coaching, mentorship, and daily engagement
- Comfortable leading both front-of-house and kitchen operations
- Culinary background preferred, or a willingness and ability to work alongside and support the kitchen team
- Teaches and develops staff through hands-on training and real-time feedback
- Practices empathetic listening and effective communication
- Assists with scheduling, labor management, and maintaining proper staffing levels
- Helps manage inventory, ordering, and operational systems
- Understands food, beverage, and labor cost controls
- Maintains high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and execution
- Builds guest loyalty by creating exceptional dining experiences and resolving concerns professionally
What Will Help You Succeed:
- Previous restaurant experience required
- Minimum of two years of management experience in a full-service restaurant preferred
- Experience working in a kitchen or culinary environment strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Professional demeanor, appearance, and communication skills
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 10 hours)
- Able to safely lift and maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Able to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and team members across all departments

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
