The Chief Investment Officer is responsible for leading the firm’s investment strategy, portfolio construction, market research, and risk management processes. This role serves as the senior investment decision-maker for the firm and oversees the identification, evaluation, and execution of digital asset investment opportunities. The CIO will play a central role in shaping the fund’s investment philosophy, managing portfolio exposure, and communicating strategy to investors and counterparties.
This position is ideal for a candidate with strong experience in digital asset markets, portfolio management, and macro-driven investment decision-making, combined with the ability to operate in a lean, entrepreneurial fund environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the firm’s overall investment strategy across digital assets and related opportunities
- Conduct market research, thematic analysis, and asset-level due diligence
- Build and manage portfolio allocation models, position sizing, and risk exposure limits
- Oversee trade execution, portfolio rebalancing, and investment monitoring
- Evaluate macroeconomic conditions, crypto market structure, and emerging trends relevant to portfolio positioning
- Monitor liquidity, volatility, counterparty, and custody-related risks across the portfolio
- Work with internal leadership and external service providers to support fund operations and reporting
- Communicate the firm’s investment strategy, market outlook, and portfolio philosophy to prospective and existing investors
- Support fundraising efforts, investor meetings, and due diligence discussions
- Maintain awareness of custody providers, exchanges, OTC counterparties, and other key market infrastructure partners
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in investment management, portfolio management, trading, or digital asset research
- Strong understanding of cryptocurrency markets, blockchain ecosystems, and institutional digital asset infrastructure
- Experience building portfolios, managing risk, and making discretionary investment decisions
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills
- Ability to operate independently and make disciplined decisions in a fast-moving market environment
- Prior hedge fund, asset management, family office, or alternative investment experience preferred
