Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report changes promptly to nursing staff to ensure optimal care.
- Support patients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, or behavioral health challenges with patience and understanding.
- Assist with medical procedures including catheter care, wound care, phlebotomy support, and medication administration under supervision.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Uphold aseptic techniques and infection control protocols during all patient interactions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Use assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids safely to promote patient independence and prevent injury.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a CNA or in a similar caregiving role within hospital medicine, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification is essential.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks enhances your ability to document patient information accurately.
- Exposure to critical care settings including ICU, emergency medicine, Level I or Level II trauma centers adds valuable insight into acute patient needs.
- Familiarity with specialized areas such as pediatric (PICU), geriatrics, hospice care, behavioral health, or post-acute/sub-acute care environments is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges while demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
