Licensed Acupuncturist | Join the Luna Wellness Collective
Independent Contractor | Part-Time with Room to Grow | Portland, OR
About Luna
Luna Wellness is a women-centered wellness practice in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to being a source of comfort, support, and positivity through the many transitions of life—from adolescence and fertility to pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and beyond.
Our goal is to create a space where clients feel cared for as a whole person, while bringing together practitioners who believe healthcare can be collaborative, personal, and deeply supportive.
As Luna evolves, we're building a collective of independent practitioners who want the autonomy to develop their own work while benefiting from the community, infrastructure, referrals, and support of an established practice.
You can build something of your own without having to build it alone.
About You
We're looking for a licensed acupuncturist who is excited about women's health and wants to grow their practice within the Luna community.
Because we serve a large prenatal and postpartum population, experience or interest in fertility, pregnancy, breech presentation, labor preparation, postpartum care, and therapeutic ultrasound for lactation-related breast concerns is especially valuable.
Our clients also seek acupuncture for hormonal support, menstrual health, stress and mental wellness, sleep, pain management, digestion, and general well-being.
You don't need to specialize in everything. In fact, we'd love for you to bring your own interests, experience, and perspective to Luna and help us expand what acupuncture can look like here.
An interest in Chinese herbal medicine is welcomed but not required. There may also be opportunities to collaborate on herbal products and offerings designed around the needs of Luna clients.
Build Your Practice Within Luna
This is an independent contractor opportunity beginning with a part-time caseload, with the ability to expand as your practice and client base grow. The monthly pay is based on what our average of the last 6 months were with the current provider.
We're especially interested in someone who wants to be an active part of a collaborative practice—not simply arrive, treat clients, and leave.
We want you to develop your specialties, build relationships with your clients, create offerings you're excited about, and establish your own professional voice.
Depending on your interests, that might include:
- Developing specialty acupuncture services or packages
- Creating educational content around Chinese medicine and your areas of expertise
- Collaborating with other Luna practitioners on client care
- Hosting workshops, classes, or community events
- Participating in outreach and relationship-building with other healthcare providers
- Developing herbal products or other complementary offerings
- Building a loyal client base and recognizable practice within the Luna community
Whether Luna becomes your long-term professional home or a place that helps you grow toward something of your own, we want your time here to contribute to your professional development.
What Success Looks Like Here
You build strong, lasting relationships with your clients and fellow practitioners.
Clients feel heard, cared for, and confident in their treatment plan. They return because they value your care and refer others because they trust you.
You take ownership of your practice and client experience while also seeing yourself as part of a larger collaborative community.
You are curious about other modalities and recognize when collaboration or a referral may better support a client's needs.
Most importantly, you care about the experience you're creating—not simply completing the appointment.
Your Practice & Client Care
As an independent licensed practitioner, you will be responsible for providing acupuncture and related treatments within your professional scope and in accordance with Oregon requirements.
This includes:
- Conducting client assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
- Providing acupuncture and other modalities within your training and scope of practice
- Educating clients about treatment recommendations and complementary care
- Evaluating treatment outcomes and adjusting care when appropriate
- Following up with clients when clinically appropriate
- Maintaining appropriate professional and clinical standards
- Completing documentation necessary for insurance billing, when applicable
- Maintaining a clean, welcoming, and organized treatment environment
You'll also manage the natural flow of your client relationships—including treatment recommendations, rebooking, follow-up, and communication around their care.
Collaboration & Marketing
We believe practitioners benefit when clients understand who you are, what you know, and why your work matters.
You'll have opportunities to collaborate with Luna on educational content, social media, newsletters, workshops, promotions, and community outreach.
This isn't about becoming Luna's marketing employee. Your involvement in marketing should help grow your own practice.
We'll work together to highlight your specialties, educate our community, and connect the right clients with your work.
What We're Looking For
- Current Oregon license to practice acupuncture
- Graduate of an accredited acupuncture program
- Current professional liability insurance
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
- Ability to complete SOAP notes accurately and consistently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage your practice independently
- Commitment to staying current with professional standards and regulations
- Comfort with electronic charting and insurance documentation; training on Luna's systems can be provided
- Experience or strong interest in women's health, prenatal/postpartum care, fertility, hormonal health, and the reproductive system is preferred
Above all, we're looking for someone who is collaborative, curious, reliable, and excited about building something.
What Luna Provides
Joining Luna means gaining many of the benefits of an established practice without having to create all of the infrastructure yourself.
Depending on your arrangement, support may include:
- An established wellness brand and existing client community
- New-client referrals and internal cross-referrals
- A furnished and welcoming treatment space
- Website presence and an individual practitioner profile
- Collaborative marketing and social media support
- Opportunities for community and provider outreach
- One-on-one support around your individual business and practice goals
- Practitioner roundtables for collaboration, problem-solving, referrals, and developing new ideas
- Opportunities to create workshops, packages, specialty services, and collaborative offerings
- Opportunities for discounted or complimentary continuing education
- Laundry and linen service
- Shared acupuncture supplies, including needles, cupping supplies, lotions/oils, and other basics
- Administrative and insurance-billing infrastructure where applicable
We are committed to actively helping introduce new practitioners to the Luna community and supporting the growth of their caseload.
The Bigger Picture
Luna is becoming more than a collection of treatment rooms.
We're creating a network of practitioners who believe that women's wellness works better when providers know one another, communicate, share knowledge, and make thoughtful referrals.
We want our practitioners to have independence and community.
If you're looking for a place where you can practice your craft, develop your own professional identity, collaborate with other practitioners, and grow without carrying the entire burden of running a clinic alone, we'd love to meet you.
To inquire: Feel free to fill out/send Indeeds profile for a short review. If you have one, send us cover letter and/or resume and a short introduction telling us about your approach to acupuncture, the populations or conditions you're most passionate about working with, and what you'd like your practice to look like over the next few years.
