Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing to remove plaque and tartar buildupn and perio charting
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records in EMR systems, ensuring HIPAA compliance
- Review dental charts and medical records for comprehensive patient care planning
- Maintain accurate clinical notes
- Ensure aseptic techniques are followed to prevent cross-contamination
- Provide chairside assisting during various dental procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings
- Monitor and document patient responses throughout treatment, ensuring comfort and safety
- Adhere to all infection control standards, including sterilization procedures and OSHA regulations
Requirements
- Valid Dental Hygienist license with current state licensure
- Proven experience in dental office or clinic settings, including pediatric dentistry
- Proficiency with dental software such as OpenDental is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental coding, and documentation review
- Familiarity with EMR systems and medical imaging techniques
- Ability to perform patient care with compassion, professionalism, and excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
- Experience with medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and aseptic technique is required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
