Practice Overview: OakStone Health and Nutrition is a dietitian private practice that is specialized in providing personalized nutrition counseling and education services through expertise in nutrition, as well as promoting health and preventing disease. Position Summary: OakStone Health and Nutrition is seeking a skilled and passionate Registered Dietitian to join our team. This part-time position is based primarily in our Martinsville office, with some potential telehealth work. The dietitian will provide personalized nutrition counseling to clients, helping them manage chronic diseases, improve overall health, and adopt sustainable lifestyle changes. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment and has a special interest in one or more of our practice specialties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and develop individualized nutrition care plans for clients using ADIME documentation.
- Provide one-on-one nutrition counseling to clients with a focus on weight loss/management, diabetes, chronic diseases, gut health, cancer, and/or alpha-gal allergy.
- Deliver up to 10 client sessions per week (approximately up to 10 hours of client-facing time plus charting and admin time for a total of up to 12 hours per week). This may increase if you desire more hours.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and obtain MD referrals as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using electronic medical records.
- Develop individualized nutrition plans for clients as requested.
- Schedule follow-up appointments for patient visits using a scheduling platform.
- Stay informed on best practices through continuing education opportunities, ensuring evidence-based recommendations are shared with clients.
- Stay up to date on company policies and trainings.
- Additional responsibilities may be required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a clinical dietitian providing medical nutrition therapy and/or outpatient nutrition counseling (preferred).
- RD must be located within Virginia or North Carolina (or within driving distance to the Martinsville office location)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an empathetic and client-centered approach.
- Experience offering nutrition counseling for a variety of health concerns including weight loss and management; chronic disease management such diabetes, heart disease, and/or kidney disease; gastrointestinal conditions; sports nutrition; or other nutrition related topics.
- Ability to work independently, manage patient relationships, and retain a part-time schedule.
- Ability to not pass harsh judgement onto client’s current nutrition habits, but to help them add nutrient rich foods to their current nutrition habits.
- Experience with using different nutrition counseling techniques such as motivational interviewing to provide patient centered care and support behavior change.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail required for documentation and with accountability and behavior change during patient care.
- Ability to implement OakStone Health and Nutrition developed strategies and methods for helping clients improve nutrition habits.
- Spanish speaking or multilingual abilities are a plus.
Pay: Hourly pay is competitive and will be negotiated based on the candidate's credentials, relevant experience, areas of expertise, and overall qualifications.
