A Senior MRI Technologist is an Expert Technologist with the ability to perform quality MRI exams in a safe and timely manner, while providing excellent patient care. May serve as a Preceptor to other staff members. May act as Lead when Lead MRI Technologist is out.
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

ARRT – MRI Specialist - American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT), MRI Technician Certification - American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
1. Is an expert MRI Technologist and may serve as a Preceptor in the skills to perform diagnostic scans as directed by Radiologists.
2. Is an expert, and may serve as a Preceptor, in the utilization of correct scan protocols while optimizing image quality, decreasing scan length and repeat procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of patient positioning and coil selection.
3. May serve as a Preceptor to properly screen patients, families, and staff with attention to pregnancy and MRI contraindications.
4. May serve as a Preceptor in adhering to all safety recommendations regarding MRI.
5. Ensures that work area is properly maintained.
6. May serve as a Preceptor in troubleshooting and reporting malfunctioning equipment.
7. Assists with service recovery, ensuring proactive communication with patients and families.
8. Participates in performance improvement activities. Complies with all TJC, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
