About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Operations Superintendent to lead second-shift production operations at a USDA-regulated Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for driving production efficiency, food safety, employee development, and operational excellence while ensuring the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily production operations for the 2nd shift.
- Manage production planning, staffing, scheduling, and inventory.
- Drive production efficiency while meeting operational KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with USDA, food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards.
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and production teams.
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and other departments to maximize productivity.
- Participate in budgeting, capital planning, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain strong communication across shifts to ensure smooth production flow.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred (Meat Science, Business, or related field).
- Minimum 3 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
- Superintendent, Production Manager, or Plant Operations leadership experience.
- Experience in USDA Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food manufacturing is required.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, staffing, food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work onsite on the 2nd Shift (4 PM–11 PM).
Preferred Experience
- HACCP, GMP, USDA/FSIS compliance.
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
- ERP, MES, or CMMS systems.
- Budgeting and capital planning.
Important Requirements
- Must have experience in USDA Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food manufacturing.
- Must be a hands-on production floor leader.
- Must have managed supervisors and production teams.
- Candidates from slaughterhouses or farming-only operations will not be considered.
