Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Department Support
Partner with survey leadership to execute departmental goals and strategic initiatives
Support client relationship development and business growth efforts
Participate in hiring, staff mentoring, performance reviews, and team development
Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence
Represent the surveying group internally and externally when appropriate
Project & Technical Oversight
Manage multiple land development surveying projects simultaneously
Analyze field data and research to prepare and review:
Boundary surveys
ALTA/NSPS surveys
Construction layout surveys
Topographic surveys
As-built surveys and final plats
Interpret engineering drawings and coordinate survey control
Ensure compliance with professional standards and quality expectations
Provide technical review and oversight across project deliverables
Operations & Financial Management
Coordinate and schedule multiple survey crews for efficiency and utilization
Supervise office staff supporting project execution
Assist with scope development, scheduling, and project budgeting
Monitor billing accuracy, financial performance, and project timelines
Support equipment planning and operational logistics as needed
Required Qualifications
Active North Carolina Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
Minimum 4+ years of progressive land surveying experience
Experience supporting:
Boundary surveys
ALTA/NSPS surveys
Construction layout
Topographic surveys
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Carlson Survey
Experience working with Topcon and/or Leica survey equipment
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Valid North Carolina driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related discipline
Experience managing multiple crews and mentoring junior staff
Familiarity with project financial systems (e.g., Ajera or similar platforms)
Work Environment & Schedule
Primarily office-based role
Predictable weekday schedule with early Friday wrap-up
Limited after-hours commitments tied to occasional client engagement
