About the Role
Do you love bringing people together, obsess over the perfect event flow, and get a tiny thrill from a well-organized spreadsheet? Are you someone who loves the unique characteristics of neighborhoods all over town and want to see them thrive? If so, you might be our next Events & Community Engagement Manager.
This role steers the ship for our monthly member events, neighborhood initiatives in West and South Louisville, and five major public-facing events each year. You’ll be the mastermind behind gatherings that celebrate local businesses, spark connections, and remind people why Louisville’s independent businesses make it special.

- Spread the word in fun, creative ways.
- Keep events fresh, friendly, and totally worth showing up for.
Five Major Public Events and Event Series
- Own the planning, production, and day-of magic for five of our biggest public happenings: Louisville Local Business Expo (January), Buy Local Fair (June), South Points Buy Local Fair (July), Small Business Saturday events for West, and for South (November).
- Our West Louisville volunteer teams will work with you to produce the West On Wednesday series (approx. 4 times/year) and West Louisville Trailblazers (approx. 2 times/year).
- Work with vendors, volunteers and sponsors like a boss.
- Build timelines that run smooth and come in on time
Community + Connection
- Become a familiar, friendly face to members, partners, volunteers, and everyone who loves local.
- Coordinate the monthly huddles of our West and South teams of committed volunteers.
- Build relationships that make events easier, better, and more joyful.
- Help people feel like they’re part of something bigger.
Communications & Creative Stuff
- Team up with our marketing folks on event promotions, graphics, storytelling, and social content.
- Be comfortable talking to local media outlets.
Admin
- Track budgets, contracts, invoices, and attendance. We’re a nonprofit, so all our events raise dollars and awareness for the cause.
- Keep event details organized in ways that future-you will thank you for.
- Become an expert in Wild Apricot, a user-friendly online membership software program that tracks our members, events, and invoices, and also generates our website and newsletters.
You Might Be Our Person If…

- You communicate clearly, solve problems quickly, and laugh easily.
- You’re cool with working the occasional evening or weekend event.
