Mechanical Field Service Technician
Role Summary
Installs, maintains, and repairs elevators, chairlifts, and mechanical vertical and incline platform lifts. They ensure transportation systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation
- Assemble and install elevator systems, including cables, motors, control panels, and doors
- Collaborate with architects and construction teams on new builds
- Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance
- Lubricate moving parts and replace worn components
- Test systems for performance and safety compliance
- Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and system malfunctions
- Repair or replace defective parts
- Documentation & Communication
- Maintain detailed service records
- Communicate with clients about repairs and safety procedures
- Order parts and manage inventory
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Certification in elevator mechanics or related trade
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
- Physical fitness for lifting and manual tasks
- Willingness to travel and work after hours when needed
- Familiarity with safety codes and compliance standards
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
