Position Summary
The Barista is a vital part of the café experience, bringing warmth, attentiveness, and expertise to every guest interaction. This role crafts exceptional beverages while upholding Talitha's standards of service, presentation, and hospitality, and reflects the company's core values of integrity, quality, and community as a brand ambassador.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service
- Deliver outstanding guest service by creating a welcoming environment and anticipating guest needs, responding promptly and professionally to questions, concerns, and special requests.
- Act as a knowledgeable brand representative by communicating Talitha's values, coffee sourcing, menu items, and retail offerings.
- Share product knowledge and make thoughtful recommendations to enhance the guest experience.
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude with guests, teammates, and supervisors at all times.
Beverage & Food Preparation
- Prepare espresso-based beverages, pour-over coffee, teas, and seasonal drinks according to company recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain consistent quality by understanding espresso extraction, adjusting grinders, and identifying taste defects in real time.
- Execute precise drink preparation and deliver orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment proficiently and safely.
- Adhere to food safety standards and remain mindful of guest dietary restrictions and food allergies.
Café Operations
- Accurately process orders using the Square POS system with attention to detail and guest preferences.
- Follow FIFO rotation of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other ingredients to ensure freshness.
- Perform all opening and closing duties, ensuring the café is clean, stocked, and organized.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout each shift in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current on company offerings, service expectations, and procedures.
Teamwork & Communication
- Collaborate effectively with front and back of house teams to ensure smooth café operations.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors, peers, and guests, and follow company SOPs and directives.
- Support teammates and foster a cooperative, respectful work environment; hold yourself and others accountable for completing daily tasks and maintaining high standards.
- Report to work on time and ready for every scheduled shift.
Qualifications & Requirements
Prior experience in a café, restaurant, or retail setting preferred, especially in guest-facing roles; passion for coffee and a desire to learn brewing methods and flavor profiles.
Skills & certifications
Proficient with POS systems (Square preferred) and kitchen display systems; strong interpersonal and communication skills; food handler's permit required or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Physical & schedule requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 75 lbs, and use hands and arms frequently. Must be able to report to work on time, work weekends, and maintain a flexible schedule to support business needs, including holidays.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
