We are working with a well-established and growing mechanical contractor in the Greater Chicago area looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to its engineering team.
This is a hands-on design-build HVAC engineering position offering exposure to projects from initial design and calculations through construction and completion. The firm works across a diverse project portfolio including healthcare, education, manufacturing, laboratories, high-rise, commercial, and other complex building environments.
This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being close to the construction process and wants to work in an environment where engineering, estimating, project management, and field teams collaborate closely.
Responsibilities
- Design HVAC and mechanical building systems for design-build projects
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, sizing, and system layouts
- Develop and review mechanical drawings and construction documents
- Coordinate designs with project managers, field teams, architects, engineers, and other disciplines
- Support projects throughout design and construction
- Assist with equipment specifications and technical documentation
- Participate in project meetings and site visits as required
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
- Experience designing HVAC or mechanical building systems
- Background within MEP consulting, mechanical contracting, or design-build environments preferred
- Understanding of HVAC equipment, system selection, load calculations, and building systems
- Revit and/or AutoCAD experience preferred
- EIT or PE licensure is a plus
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills
Compensation & Benefits
$90,000–$140,000 base salary, depending on experience, technical background, and licensure.
