Job Summary
Bright Eye Care & Vision Development is seeking a dependable, friendly, and organized Part-Time Vision Therapist / Office Assistant to join our team.
This is a unique position that combines working directly with patients during vision therapy sessions and helping with various administrative and office tasks. Previous vision therapy or medical office experience is not required. We will provide training.
The right person will be patient, encouraging, comfortable working with children and adults, willing to learn, and able to help wherever needed in a small, busy healthcare practice.
Vision Therapy Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the doctor, you will:
- Work one-on-one with children and adults during vision therapy sessions
- Guide patients through prescribed visual activities and exercises
- Explain activities clearly and provide encouragement
- Observe and document patient performance and progress
- Prepare therapy materials and equipment before appointments
- Keep therapy areas and supplies clean, organized, and ready for use
- Communicate patient questions or concerns to the doctor
- Learn how visual skills can affect reading, learning, coordination, and everyday performance
Office Assistant Responsibilities
When you are not working directly with vision therapy patients, you may assist with:
- Checking whether insurance claims have been filed
- Following up on basic insurance and administrative tasks
- Scanning and organizing documents
- Uploading documents into patient records
- Filing and maintaining organized records
- Preparing forms, therapy materials, and office supplies
- Assisting with telephone calls or patient communication when needed
- Helping with general office projects and other day-to-day tasks
- Completing a variety of administrative “odds and ends” as assigned
Qualifications
- No previous vision therapy experience required
- No previous medical office experience required
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills
- Dependable, punctual, and responsible
- Patient and encouraging when working with children
- Friendly and professional communication skills
- Comfortable working one-on-one with patients
- Organized and attentive to detail
- Able to follow instructions and established procedures
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software
- Willing to assist with different responsibilities as the needs of the office change
- Able to maintain patient confidentiality
Experience working with children, teaching, tutoring, coaching, therapy, childcare, healthcare, or customer service is helpful but not required.

Schedule
This is a part-time position. Applicants must be available during the office’s scheduled vision therapy and administrative hours.
Expected hours: 9-12 hours per week
Required availability: Weekdays, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

About Our Practice
Bright Eye Care & Vision Development is a family eye care and vision development practice in Sugar Land. In addition to comprehensive eye care, our office provides individualized vision therapy for children and adults who need help developing visual skills such as eye tracking, focusing, eye teaming, visual coordination, and visual processing.
