The Communications Manager elevates Great Parks’ visibility by creating clear, compelling and on-brand content for digital, print, earned, owned and paid channels. The position manages communications for campaigns, web content, email, SMS, direct mail, press releases and special projects while ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging across the organization. Working with internal teams and external partners, the Communications Manager supports storytelling, public engagement, SEO-focused content and capital project communications that inform and inspire audiences in Hamilton County and beyond.

The successful candidate will perform the following responsibilities:

Writes creative, compelling, and timely content across all marketing and communications channels, including for brand campaigns, SMS, website, email, blogs, videos, radio, digital and print ads, presentations, annual reports and press releases.

Develops best practices for written communication materials including policies, style guidelines, signs, and rules. Provides accurate, consistent, and timely flow of content. Exhibits resourceful thinking for both creative writing and technical writing.

Works collaboratively across Great Parks divisions to provide guidance and recommendations on copy to ensure consistency with brand guidelines and brand tone.

Reviews and revises all public-facing copy such as website, press releases, mailers, reports, etc. prior to publication.

Organizes content requirements, helps manage all inbound marketing requests relating to website(s) content in partnership with website manager, and ensures copy is optimized for search and user experience.

Collaborates with website manager on GreatParks.org content priorities and page design.

Serves as a project manager for departmental and agency projects and special initiatives in coordination with other departments including workflow and creating and monitoring deliverables to ensure successful project completion for projects such as brochures, awards, and annual reports.

Edits and proofreads all copy before publication for established and approved writing style.

Maintains brand voice across various publications, aligned to appropriate audiences including internal and external stakeholders.

Ensures messaging is consistent across the organization.

Collaborates across departments to understand nuances of organization and departmental priorities as it relates to marketing and communication. Manages capital project communications to inform public on status and updates of Great Parks key projects.

Collaborates with creative teams, agencies and contractors. Creates, updates and maintains work processes and SOPs.

Draft compelling web copy to drive SEO and click-through rates. Draft compelling email copy to drive open and click-through rates.

Translates data into engaging copy to improve engagement in content marketing, search engine optimization and communications and marketing campaigns.

Brainstorm creative concepts and develop original campaigns while staying on strategy.

Maintains communication with key stakeholders. Addresses problems and ensures effective implementation of solutions.

Provides copy to assist in producing design, video, and photography projects

Maintains confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information. Manages organization of communication materials.

Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance, and works outside of normal schedule as required including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing, advertising or related field with a minimum of 3 year's experience working in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, advertising, or related field with proven experience proofreading and writing AP style.

Strong creative portfolio supporting ability to think conceptually, creatively, critically, and strategically while effectively communicating those ideas and producing copy for various audiences and content type (i.e. annual reports, marketing materials, blog). Exceptional writing and research skills, organization, collaboration with team and working independently. Familiarity with project management software also recommended.
License of Certification Requirements

State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets Great Parks’ current carrier guidelines.
