Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and setup of asphalt paving sites, including moving materials and setting up safety barriers
- Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, graders, dozers, and front loader trucks to support paving operations
- Help with the loading and unloading of asphalt materials using dump trucks and other machinery
- Support paving activities by spreading asphalt, leveling surfaces, and ensuring proper compaction
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation and report any maintenance needs
- Follow all safety protocols and construction site procedures to maintain a secure work environment
- Assist with utility locating to ensure underground utilities are identified before excavation or paving begins
Requirements
- Prior construction site experience or familiarity with heavy equipment operation preferred
- Ability to operate machinery such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks safely and effectively
- Knowledge of paving techniques and construction processes is a plus
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods
- Willingness to learn new skills related to asphalt installation and heavy equipment operation
- Basic understanding of utility locating procedures is advantageous
- Valid driver’s license; experience with Caterpillar equipment is a bonus
