The Senior Associate is responsible for supporting various practice groups within the organization with technical, scientific, research and quantitative analysis projects, in a project-level leadership role, with a focus on helping commercial technology clients implement strategies for working with federal and state governments, the military & intelligence community, and the venture capital community.
Location: Silicon Valley, Washington DC, and Virtual
- Create final quantitative and qualitative technical analyses for client deliverables, including developing initial objectives and tactics, with input from Directors and Managers.
- Keep abreast of technical and technical program developments within the government, including DoD, CIA, NIH, DoE, DHS, FBI, and the Intelligence Community, including independently identifying important information and activities related to client projects, developing insights into the relevance of this information in advancing these projects and providing this information to the relevant teams.
- Lead the completion of client deliverables, with input from Directors, including defining objectives and tactics, working with others in the CSA team to gather the necessary materials and information, performing any necessary quantitative data analysis or modeling and producing the final, polished deliverable to the clients, on time and meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Generate final technical materials (written and in presentation or spreadsheet format), with input from Directors, including developing initial objectives and tactics. These include, but are not limited to, client presentations, quantitative technical value-propositions, collateral, concept papers and white papers for clients and government consumers.
- Lead client technical meetings and subsequent strategy discussions, with oversight and input from Directors, including developing the objectives and desired outcomes for the meeting, creating agendas and ensuring that all participants are prepared to contribute their parts of the meeting, in advance.
- Execute and direct practice group and firm initiatives (e.g. conferences, events, team deliverables).
- Work with the CSA team and/or clients on targeted assignments, including taking a leadership role in defining the objectives and the generating the final deliverables.
- Lead the creation of technical analyses and value propositions, with input from Directors, including defining the objectives and tactics for completing the project.
- Strategic management of grant applications, whitepapers, and RFP responses, with input from Directors.
- Independently identify and research companies, technologies and government programs, based on knowledge of various client projects, and their objectives. Update Directors and Mangers on the information identified, including insights into the relevance of the information for specific projects and clients.
- Prepare internal technical memos and presentations, with input from Directors and Managers, but based primarily on their own insight into the needs and objectives of various client and non-client projects.
- Coach and mentor assigned Technical Analyst and Associate employees.
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in a hard-science or engineering (e.g. material sciences, physics, physical chemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and/or similar subject matter)
- 3 - 7 years of work experience in a technical field (or 2 - 6 years plus a PhD in a hard-science or engineering field)
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Excellent quantitative analytical and modeling skills
- Ability to think creatively and independently about how to solve new problems or apply technologies to new applications
- Self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to quickly adapt to change
