Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our educational team as a Migrant Paraprofessional at the secondary level. This full-time position is designed to support migrant students in their academic journey, ensuring they have the resources and assistance needed to succeed in a diverse learning environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and staff to provide individualized support, foster a positive learning atmosphere, and promote the educational and social development of migrant students.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities tailored to the needs of migrant students.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with assignments, projects, and study skills.
- Collaborate with educators to identify and address the academic and emotional needs of migrant students.
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff to promote engagement and support.
- Help students develop effective study habits and organizational skills.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and areas for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources that are culturally relevant and accessible to migrant students.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to supporting migrant populations.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.
- Support the integration of migrant students into school activities and programs, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Experience working with secondary-level students, particularly in a diverse or migrant education setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of the challenges faced by migrant students and families, as well as resources available to support them.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable, particularly Spanish.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with educational technology and resources that support student learning.
