Position Summary:
This position is for a bilingual, Spanish and English speaking, receptionist. The receptionist is the hostess for the practice and is responsible for welcoming all patients and visitors to the office. The receptionist is the primary in-office source of information for all the practice’s clients. The receptionist must be knowledgeable and articulate in discussing all aspects of our practice. The receptionist is also responsible for ensuring the appropriate appearance of the waiting room. The receptionist should not leave the front desk while on duty without assuring that there is adequate coverage.
Qualifications:
The receptionist must possess a calm, reassuring, competent demeanor and the ability to be sensitive to patient needs. Be a mature, pleasant adult, conservative and tasteful in appearance, and able to relate to the client base. Be capable of masking emotions and frustration when dealing with difficult situations and/or patients. Be knowledgeable about services and products available. Be flexible for attendance of morning and evening hours and/or staff meetings
Responsibilities:
- Warmly and professionally greet patients and visitors in the office and during phone calls and notifying appropriate personnel of their arrival
- Responsible for the overall appearance of the front desk and waiting areas during business hours
- Answer telephone calls and accurately communicate information to patients and staff in a concise manner. Schedule appointments, give directions and maintain competency on patient scheduling
- Schedule new and existing patients according to practice policies
- Verify/update existing demographic and insurance records for patients, including new meaningful use requirements
- Daily communication with patients in order to confirm their appointments and review protocols
- Daily review of doctor schedules and ensure there are no vacant appointment slots
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks: Review problem accounts from billing department, verify the accuracy of transaction records and daily reconciliation at the end of the day
- Maintain current knowledge of activities, policies, and procedures
- Participate in staff meetings
- Inform Office Manager of any problems, delays, etc.
- All other duties as requested by Physicians or Office Manager
Requirements:
- Flexibility with work schedule including one mandatory evening shift per week, Wednesdays 12pm - 9pm .
- EMR experience a must; eClinical works preferred.
- Bi-lingual Spanish also preferred required.
