Purpose/General Job Description: To fill the job functions of Maintenance/Mechanical Operator according to the daily demands of the business including keeping all sewing machines operating. The company will provide all tools necessary to do the job.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the production staff in whatever way necessary.
- Building maintenance (lights, fans, heaters, plumbing and other areas requiring maintenance).
- Assist in designing, building and rebuilding production machines.
- Clean lint collector weekly.
- Responsible for reporting any unsafe equipment to management.
- Responsible for reporting any safety hazards to management.
- Responsible for assigned tools with respect to care or abuse.
- Responsible for notifying management if no work is available for the purpose of obtaining a temporary assignment.
- Responsible for notifying management if a machine will be out of operation for more than four hours.
- Perform all tasks as directed by Management
- Keep work area and all storage areas in a neat and orderly manner.
- Keep aisle ways clear of all obstacles.
- Clean up all trash generated throughout all functions.
Requirements for Eligibility:
- Associate must be able to lift heavy objects.
- Associate must work with other associates in a professional manner and have skills in the following areas: basic electricity, plumbing, welding, carpentry and masonry.
- An associate must perform these skills efficiently within the established training period of 8 weeks.
- Associate must take basic test of understanding of mechanical and electrical knowledge and score 80% accuracy or higher to qualify for training.
Additional Safety Requirements:
- Must be able to pass test on electrical safe work practice and be in compliance with Energy Control Program, including: Use all required personal protective equipment and follow lock-out and tag-out procedures. Be familiar with the potential mechanical and electrical hazards of all machinery. Follow all plant wide general safety rules.
