Camp Counselor Position – Summer Musical Theater Intensive

Schedule: Full-Time, Seasonal (Must be available for evening and weekend shows on July 1 24 & 25)
Participants: Ages 7–18
About the Program:
Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy is proud to partner with the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts to offer an immersive three-week summer musical theater intensive culminating in a full-scale youth production of Descendants the Musical. We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible Camp Counselors to support our artistic and educational team. All counselor positions are contracted through Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy.
Position Overview:
Camp Counselors play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment for campers. This is a hands-on, creative position ideal for those who love working with kids and have a passion for the arts. Counselors will assist in daily camp activities, rehearsals, crafts, and general camp operations—making it a memorable summer for all involved.
All counselors must be available for evening performances on July 24, and for a full day on Saturday, July 25.
Key Responsibilities:
- Camper Supervision: Provide daily support and supervision during camp hours (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM), including check-in, transitions, and dismissal.
- Before/Aftercare Coverage: Help with extended care hours if needed.
- Recreational Support: Lead warm-ups, games, and theater-based team activities.
- Crafts & Creative Projects: Guide campers through craft-based activities that support set design, prop-making, costume accessories, and themed decor.
- Artistic & Technical Assistance: Assist with costuming, props, set transitions, backstage flow, and basic tech prep.
- Snack Cart Operations: Help run the camper snack cart, including inventory and daily sales.
- Positive Camper Engagement: Ensure that all campers feel included, encouraged, and safe throughout the program.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children in camps, schools, or arts-based programs preferred.
- A love of musical theater and interest in youth development.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for leading hands-on projects and crafts.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive attitude.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain prior to camp).
Compensation:
- This is a stipend-based position, with compensation based on experience and availability.
