Wireline Engineer (Plug & Perf Operations)
Location: Greeley, Colorado (Operations Based in the Powder River Basin, WY)
Schedule: 14 Days On / 7 Days Off Rotation
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive Salary Based on Experience + Benefits + Per Diem/Travel (if applicable)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, safety-focused Wireline Engineer to lead and execute Plug & Perf operations in the Powder River Basin. This position is responsible for supervising wireline crews, ensuring compliance with all safety procedures, maintaining high-quality service execution, and delivering exceptional results for our customers.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience with cased-hole wireline operations, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage personnel, equipment, and operational execution in demanding field environments.
This role is based out of Greeley, Colorado, with the majority of field operations occurring throughout the Powder River Basin.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise wireline crews during Plug & Perf operations.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company, customer, state, and federal regulations.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute wireline operations efficiently and effectively.
- Conduct pre-job safety meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and post-job reviews.
- Manage operational risk and immediately address potential safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate job documentation, field reports, and operational records.
- Communicate directly with customers, company management, and field personnel.
- Verify proper maintenance, calibration, and functionality of wireline equipment.
- Monitor crew performance and provide training, mentorship, and leadership.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and make critical decisions in the field.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and hazardous material transportation requirements.
- Maintain inventory of explosives, tools, and consumables as required.
- Support equipment mobilization and demobilization activities.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of wireline experience, with significant Plug & Perf operational experience preferred.
- Previous experience as a Wireline Engineer, Senior Operator, Field Engineer, or similar leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead field crews.
- Strong understanding of pressure control equipment and wellsite safety practices.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting wireline logging and perforating systems.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with operational reporting and job documentation.
- Must be capable of working long hours in varying weather and field conditions.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Class A CDL
- Hazmat Endorsement (Required)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening
- H2S, First Aid/CPR, Safeland, and PEC certifications are preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to wear all required PPE and work safely around energized equipment and explosives.
