Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medication Technician to join our healthcare team for the 12-hour PM shift. This role is vital in providing safe and compassionate patient care within our assisted living facility. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seniors, individuals with dementia or those requiring specialized memory care. A strong understanding of medical documentation, HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology is essential to ensure high-quality care and safety standards.
Duties
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols
- Monitor and record vital signs, patient responses, and medication effects using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including mobility, hygiene, and feeding as needed
- Maintain detailed and compliant medical records and documentation of medication administration and patient observations
- Support residents with specialized needs such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other memory impairments in a compassionate manner
- Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition or behavior that require escalation
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection control procedures and safety protocols
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, or home care settings preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration techniques
- Experience working with people with disabilities or in specialized care such as Alzheimer’s or hospice care is highly desirable
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach to senior and memory care patients
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards
