Engineering Technologist

Position Overview
M Force Partners is seeking an entry-level Engineering Technologist to support power distribution engineering and design projects. This position combines office-based engineering support with field activities, providing a recent graduate the opportunity to develop hands-on experience designing safe, reliable, and cost-effective electric utility distribution solutions.
The ideal Engineering Technologist is a recent Engineering Technology graduate who is interested in beginning a career in power distribution, utility engineering, or electrical distribution design. This role provides ongoing training and mentorship while developing experience with engineering drawings, project packages, field assessments, CAD/GIS-related tools, and utility design processes.
This Engineering Technologist position requires regular onsite attendance and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and preparation of power distribution engineering projects
- Assist with the development of complete project packages, including engineering drawings, material lists, estimates, and requisitions
- Utilize company and client design software and work management systems to prepare project documentation
- Review and interpret technical information related to electric utility and power distribution projects
- Perform field visits to gather information and develop an understanding of existing utility infrastructure and construction requirements
- Maintain accurate project data, engineering documentation, records, and design information
- Follow applicable engineering codes, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
- Provide regular project status updates to internal teams and external project partners
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, field personnel, and other project stakeholders
- Develop technical knowledge of overhead and underground power distribution systems through training and hands-on experience
- Build proficiency with utility design tools, CAD/GIS applications, and project management systems
- Participate in technical training and mentorship with experienced team members, supervisors, and Professional Engineers
- Support project schedules and ensure assigned work is completed accurately and on time
- Participate in storm restoration activities as needed
- Follow established safety procedures during office and field activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a closely related technical discipline
- 1-2 years of relevant engineering, utility, electrical, CAD, GIS, or technical experience
- Interest in developing a career in power distribution engineering or utility design
- Ability to learn engineering design software, work management systems, and technical processes
- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Ability to read, understand, and develop technical documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with engineering teams, field personnel, clients, and other project stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Valid driver's license
- Access to a vehicle suitable for business use
- Ability to work onsite and perform field assessments as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework, internship, or previous experience related to power distribution or electrical utilities
- Exposure to CAD, GIS, or engineering design software
- Electrical or electrical craft experience
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, maps, construction documentation, or utility infrastructure
- Previous technical internship, co-op, or field experience
- Strong interest in electric utility infrastructure and power distribution design
